Miaoli City Office

Being the political and economic center of Miaoli County, Miaoli City has very convenient transportation. With Sun Yat-sen Freeway and railway being the chief transportation arteries, Miaoli City has very convenient transportation networks. The extensive transportation network with neighboring townships is formed through Provincial Highway 6, 13 and 13A as well as County Highway 27 and 28. All highways mentioned above constitute a very convenient network connecting with the outside.

The completion of Provincial Highway 78 makes connection with townships in Masoli County more convenient. There is an interchange of Sun Yat-sen Freeway in Miaoli City. Drivers can also enter Formosan Freeway by way of Houlong Interchange in western Miaoli City.

Chief bridges in Miaoli City include Gueishan, Sindong, Yuching, Touwu and Beishih, all of which are across the Houlong River, making external transportation more convenient. Accomplished and opened to traffic in Nov. 1997, Sindong Bridge, with its extremely striking twin towers, is the first twin-tower, cable-stayed bridge in Taiwan.
